Humans
“In the heart of every human lies a spark of boundless ambition and relentless curiosity. They are beings of endless potential, driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to shape the world around them. With their diverse cultures and innovative minds, they have reached beyond their own planet, crafting wonders of technology and exploring the vast expanse of space. Yet, within this drive, there is a duality – a capacity for great creation and profound destruction. Humanity is a tapestry woven with threads of brilliance, resilience, and the constant quest for progress.” — Excerpt from the Journal of Explorer Talos Thorn
Physical Appearance:
Humans vary greatly in appearance. They range in height from about 5 to 6 feet tall, though extremes on either end are not uncommon. Skin tones span from very light (porcelain and alabaster) to deep brown (ebony and onyx). Hair color can be blonde, brown, black, red, or any shade in between, often changing with age. Eye colors are equally diverse, including shades of blue, green, brown, gray, and hazel.
Lifespans:
Humans typically live up to around 80 years, though exceptional individuals may reach up to 100 years or more. Their relatively short lifespans drive a sense of urgency and ambition, motivating them to achieve as much as possible within their limited time. Humans also have relatively high birthrates compared to other species, contributing to their rapid expansion and the establishment of large, bustling communities. This prolific reproduction rate ensures that human societies remain dynamic and capable of rapid recovery and growth.
Culture and Beliefs:
Humans are a highly diverse species with cultures that vary significantly across different regions and environments. This diversity makes them incredibly adaptable, as they readily adopt and integrate new customs, technologies, and ideas from their surroundings. Human culture often emphasizes progress, innovation, and competition. Many human societies are driven by capitalist ideals, focusing on economic growth, personal success, and technological advancement. This drive can lead to remarkable achievements but also fosters greed and exploitation, resulting in significant social and environmental impacts.
