Turn Order & Speed

Speed Stat

Speed is a stat that determines a character’s initiative in combat, directly affecting turn order and initial possitioning on the Combat Grid. When combat begins, all players and enemies make an initiative roll using a 1d20. The speed stat is added to this roll to get the total initiative result, which determines who acts first in combat. Faster characters will act earlier and place their tokens on the battlefield sooner.

A characters Speed Modifier is determined by;

Turn Order

At the start of combat, each player rolls a 1d20 and adds their Speed Modifier to determine their turn order. The higher the roll, the earlier the character acts. The formula is:
Turn Order = 1d20 + Speed Modifier

Token Placement

Turn order also determines the placement of tokens on the grid. Players place their tokens in descending order of their turn rolls, starting with the highest. Character tokens must be placed on the grid based on their equipped weapon. For example, melee users can be initially placed in rows 1 or 2, while ranged users can be placed in rows 2 or 3.
