Each //mana shield// has a specific capacity, indicating the amount of damage it can absorb before the shield is depleted. When a mana shield is equipt, it absorbs incoming damage, reducing the shield's capacity before any damage affects the character's (HP). Once the shield's capacity reaches 0, any remaining damage is directly applied to (HP). Players can recharge their mana shields by expending mana points, with each (MP) restoring +1 shield capacity. Recharging a mana shield requires 3 action points and can only be performed on the player's turn. Mana shields also recharge upon a //long rest.//
